About the Event
Join us for our quarterly Gather and Grow training open to all child care professionals as we learn more about working with native communities from presenter Anna Goldtooth! A light dinner will be provided. Please RSVP if you plan to attend so we can have an accurate count for meals and supplies!
This workshop will focus on the importance of using trauma-informed practices when working with native communities. There will be examples on how colonial violence and policies created historical and generational trauma, but how reclaiming traditional ways of knowledge is the key to moving forward. Participants will leave with a better understanding of what it means to center strengths-based approaches in professional settings to meet the needs of the native communities they are serving.
Presenter Anna Goldtooth is Dine from Navajo Nation and Ojibwe from Red Lake Nation. She is from Bemidji, Minnesota where she works as the Manager of Indigenous Initiatives for Planned Parenthood North Central States. She graduated from Bemidji State University with a BA in Indian Studies. Anna is passionate about advocating for sexual and reproductive health, rights and reproductive justice, as well as advancing racial justice and equity.
